Emerge Sports Management Confirms Two New Signings

EMERGE Sports Management has announced the signing of two new athletes, as Rio 2016 gold medallist hockey player Shona McCallin MBE and Welsh sprinter & GB bobsleigh athlete Mica Moore become the latest international sports stars to join the agency’s growing team of talented female athletes.

24-year-old McCallin was part of last summer’s history-making GB women’s hockey team, achieving her 50th combined international appearance for Great Britain and England in the Olympic final, where Team GB won its first ever Olympic gold medal in the sport.

McCallin’s journey to Olympic gold saw her earn more than 80 caps as a junior international player, including captaining the u21s team to fourth place and their highest ever finish at a Junior World Cup in 2013. She made her debut for the senior Great Britain team in the same year and achieved her first major accolade as a senior player at the EuroHockey Championships in 2015, where the team won gold.

24-year-old Moore, whose career as an athlete began at the age of 13, was part of the Welsh squad for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where the team broke the national record in the 4x100m relay final. Moore has also enjoyed significant success at domestic level, winning multiple Welsh age group, school, junior and senior titles across 60m, 100m and 200m distances.

In 2016, alongside her promising athletics career, Moore made the decision to join GB Bobsleigh, making her competitive debut at the North American Cup circuit in November where she won a bronze and two silver medals. Since then, the multi-sport athlete has represented Great Britain at the Bobsleigh World Cup (Whistler, Canada), the European Championships (Winterberg, Germany) and the World Junior Championships, where she won gold with teammate Mica McNeill.

The Team GB athletes join EMERGE Sports Management alongside Rio 2016 Paralympic gold medallist Emma Wiggs MBE, England vice-captain and Arsenal Ladies’ midfielder Jordan Nobbs, Commonwealth Games champion judoka Nekoda Davis and GB Badminton’s Chloe Birch.

Commenting on today’s announcement, McCallin said: “It’s a hugely exciting time to be a part of women’s sport and I’m delighted to be involved with a sports management company that recognises this too. After speaking with Jenny, I knew instantly that EMERGE was perfect to represent me and my values as an athlete.” Moore added: “EMERGE came highly recommended to me and I’m really excited to be joining a team of such talented female athletes. I’ve got a busy 18 months ahead as I prepare for next year’s competitions, and knowing that I have the support and experience of the EMERGE team alongside me is a real asset.”

Jenny Forbes, head of business development at EMERGE, said: “We have been focused on working with athletes that share our vision at EMERGE Sports Management from the very start and both Shona and Mica do exactly that.

“Both athletes are incredibly determined and driven; Mica is a really unique proposition, not only competing in two very different disciplines but targeting the highest level in both sports, and Shona’s impressive performances on the pitch are matched by an attitude and ambition that has already contributed to her team’s outstanding achievement at last summer’s Olympic Games and we’re thrilled to be working with them both.”

EMERGE Sports Management was launched to work with talented female athletes to enhance their off-the-field marketing, communications and commercial success. For more information visit http://emergesportsmanagement.co.uk.
